I found Vaseline to be very effective although I needed to apply it for much longer than a week as the mites are at different stages of development. Vaseline can be used on eyelids, lashes, brows and around eye areas where many other recommended products cannot be applied. My skin looked a lot fresher too. Its important, I feel, to only use at night. I placed a big bath towel over pillow cases to protect against stickiness and thoroughly clean off each morning, to give skin a chance to breathe. It really does seem that using Vaseline every night stopped mobility of the mites, preventing them from breeding.

Found an answer from Christine who has the demodex follicular that appear on the face. I bought a product for dog mange safe as already tested on animals called Nu stock, which is made from sulfur (sulphur), camphor and mineral oil. I mixed it first with 40% zinc oxide used for diaper rash, in equal amounts one teaspoon of each. Spread it on my face at night and sleep. Protect your sheets, it can be messy, put an old towel under you head. Wash off in the morning with cleanser and warm water. The result was amazing. My skin was clear. I did this for three nights in a row and I repeat it every so often because of the life cycle. I found TTO caused my skin to burn and I became allergic. Depending on how bad the infestation is, you can increase the dose, not a lot just so that there is a slight tingling of the skin. You are born with demodex folliculum. You do not catch it. Generally the mites reside in hair follicles on the face and come out at night to proliferate. They return to the hair shafts and lay eggs. Adults die and because there is no rectum they just rot and that causes the pustules. The eggs hatch and the cycle begins again. Mites come out at night when there is no light. The reason we got the infestation is because the immune system (IS) is compromised. It is the IS that keeps them under control. When it is compromised, they get out of control. This type of mite is only on the face and not the body. Be careful as they can get in the mouth and eyes. I also use petroleum jelly on my lips and inside my mouth. Worked well to keep under control.

I had an outbreak almost like a rash. Tea tree oil wasn't helping and it was out of control. My doc said to use plain vaselene at nights. Cleared up in a week.
