I developed seasonal asthma as a young child and in my mid-forties developed hay fever which over the years extended from May/August / February/October and then all year round. Anti-histamines became ineffectual. Being a complementary health therapist, I had tried various natural remedies, however none worked and the allergies were becoming more extreme to the point of life-threatening and then I became allergic to the asthma inhalers. About five years ago a colleague of mine mentioned she had gone onto high doses of Vitamin D, not for allergies and asthma but for other conditions such as colds coughs and flu, and she found that with six months of taking very high doses, much higher than 4,000iu, her health had improved immeasurably. I instinctively chose 4000iu for myself. It was much higher than the recommended daily amount 25iu but nowhere near the amount my colleague was taking, which I considered so high an amount it was a risk. Over the next six months I had a very gradual improvement. This gradual improvement continued for 18 months and now I no longer suffer from either hay fever or asthma. Occasionally I may get the feeling of bit of fur in my mouth and throat which is one of the signs of asthma, but it doesn't develop into an attack. I also have a few sneezes during the height of summer, but that is nothing bearing in mind I live in the country. Nor have I experienced any problems when visiting the city bearing in mind I had to move out because of the allergies.

I suffer no side effects from taking the vit D nor have I had a cough, cold or flu in four years and I do not take any flu vaccinations. Furthermore, the osteoporosis that was diagnosed 20 years ago has greatly slowed, and since I don’t take anything else, all this to my mind is pretty good going considering I am nearly 67 years of age. I hope this is of help to you.

Note: My daily intake of vitamin D is 4000iu which is high. Please check with your health care provider first, especially if you are on other medication.
