My daughter contracted Obstetric Cholestasis during her 1st pregnancy which gave her much discomfort in the second half of her pregnancy and required her to be on a High Risk list with regular hospital visits and tests. In the end she had to have an induced, premature birth which was quite traumatic for both her and the baby.
Most women who have Cholestasis get it again in subsequent pregnancies. After a long search on internet, I found a forum where someone talked about a traditional use of taking activated charcoal for avoiding cholestasis. So when my daughter had her 2nd pregnancy, she took activated charcoal orally every day and the cholestasis never returned. She had a normal pregnancy and a natural birth.
