Ailment: Bird mites
Remedy: Lavender Oil
Lavender oil is an essential oil, distilled from the flower spikes or leaves of lavender. It is used as a component in many perfumes, and in aromatherapy. The scent has a calming effect, relaxing and reducing anxiety. It relieves pain from tension headaches when rubbed on the skin or breathed as a vapour. When added to a vaporizer, it may aid in the treatment of coughs and respiratory infections. On the skin, it may be used as a mosquito repellent, and to relieve mosquito bites.

Hello Everyone. My symptoms started at the beginning of August 2022 with what appeared to be a rash under both breasts and some scalp sores. The first doctor said it was scabies and prescribed Permethrin. I still had issues. Then, the second doctor prescribed a steroid cream. I still had issues. Then, I went to a walk in clinic and obtained another tube of Permethrin. I still had issues. I went back to the second doctor who referred me to a dermatologist, who said I have nerve issues. I was prescribed a steroid cream, an antibiotic cream, and a pain med for the nerve pain . I’m still having issues. So, I shaved my hair to 1/8 inch all over so I could get a good look. I have sores all over my scalp accompanied by swelling and a 1 inch diameter red round circle at nape neck area of my scalp. My other symptoms include black scalp hairs twice the diameter of my normal hairs that appear to have little black balls at the hair tips. I don t have naturally black hair. There are transparent oddly shaped entities with a tail. Both the black and the clear entities turn bright red after feeding on my blood. I have personally watched them change color. Tiny sand like granules come off my scalp. I recently observed a granule attached to a clear entity. If I disturb my hair and scalp while not wearing a shirt, I get bites and sores that look like a rash on my breasts, abdominal area, and back. My scalp burns and is painful. They say you cannot feel mites crawling and biting but I occasionally feel movement and biting on my scalp. I’m autistic with a very heightened sense of touch. Another symptom is what feels like tiny particles falling from my scalp hair into my eye lashes and eyes, which get irritated and turn red. Also apparent after shaving my hair to 1/8 inch are small round bald spots all over my scalp. I have tried all kinds of things to kill them including super head lice treatments, nit combs which work great for getting some out, lavender, peppermint, and eucalyptus essential oils, Neosporin 91 rubbing alcohol which strangely makes the scalp burning sensation temporarily subside, and epsom salt with lavender oil bath soaks. I have found nothing prescribed or at home remedies that will kill them. I don’t think that they are simply various varieties of demodex mites because they are present in both black and clear white both of which turn bright red after feeding on blood. I did however read on a forum that people have been contacting the CDC for assistance, which they apparently have not provided, because doctors and pest control can’t get rid of them. They are said to be two new species of mites. My entire life is being consumed with showering bathing, cleaning, laundry, and insomnia. Has anyone found anything that completely kills them? If not, we need to all be diligently searching for something that will eradicate them and pass on the treatment information.

I am 65 years old and at the last house I lived in I fed hundreds of birds and watched a nest of swallows twice this summer. They were ten feet from my slider. When the birds left, I started itching like crazy. I moved to a new apt. with carpeting and it got insane. I was getting horrible, painful bites all the time and then they turned to itching and never healed. My doctor ignored my complaints every month and thought I was crazy. They were smaller than a speck of pepper, but some were a little larger. I bought a liquid enzyme product and bathed in it and put it in my hair and mixed with water and sprayed a lot, but I was not diligent enough. Ran out of enzymes for two weeks, that was a very bad thing to do. They helped me a lot in customer service and we are assuming they are bird mites, when the birds left they could sense warmth from blood and invaded and love my blood.
Last week I couldn't stand it anymore and almost shaved my long, curly, thick hair. I was itching like a monkey, two hands constantly. Hundreds of bites all over my body. I mixed 3/4 cup organic coconut oil, twenty drops each lavender, tea tree, and peppermint essential oil, massaged in my scalp and hair and sat in the bath for 30 minutes with the same mix to the bath water for my skin. It hurt/tingled and I could feel them moving around on my head, so grossed out. I read the coconut oil blocks their air flow so they come out and the essential oils kill them. When I got out of the tub and drained it I cried. There were over 100 of them dead in the tub and I don't know how many went down the drain. I brought them to my doctor who finally confirmed that I have mites, and I need to get diligent. I will alternate enzyme hair wash and then oils everyday. Three baths daily with enzymes and I have to air dry myself and spray on more throughout the day. Diatomaceous earth on my cats and in their food and I'm drinking it too. Vacuum every soft surface everyday and all the floors, dirty clothes in plastic bags with a knot as soon as they come off. Wash sheets, blankets everyday with enzymes and I have allergy bags on my mattress and pillows, not box spring. Vacuum that everyday.
I am exhausted thinking about it but I could not live without the essential oils and enzymes. I keep them by my bed at night with cotton balls and they die instantly from straight lavender, tea tree or peppermint. I put cotton balls with oils in my vacuum bags and have a large Rowenta steamer, same three go in it to steam the carpets and diffuse under the bed. I might win this and get to keep my hair but they destroyed my eyebrows. I am so sad now and exhausted, but thank you for sharing this very important knowledge.
