I got a water kefir from a friend, and noticed some good changes within days after starting using it. My bloating has gone and the gas has lowered tremendously too. After doing an 18 hour Ramadan fast I don't feel bloated like I did a few days before, so that probably helped too. I am not sure the changes are because of the water kefir, but its the only thing I have added to my diet.

Hi all, I am 37 years old and I suffered extreme Irritable Bowel Syndrome for the last 3 years. I got to the point of panic attacks from the gut pain and not being able to sleep because of the intestine pain and extreme heartburn. I reached 57 kg of body weight and was on the verge of anorexia. I was prescribed pantoprazole and esomeprazole that made my situation worse as they stopped my stomach acid, allowing undigested proteins to reach my intestine and feed bad bacteria. The result was even more pain and bloating. Mine has been a long recovery journey started with a careful fodmap diet which helped. The next step was overdosing vitamin b12 injections under strict supervision of my gastroenterologist and God bless him this worked. I started meditating and this got rid of my panic attacks and decreased my perceived chronic gut pain. Lastly my girlfriend bought some kefir sachets that we successfully grew in organic soy milk, as I am lactose intolerant. I can testify that the kefir worked wonderfully for me! My reflux was gone in just 2 weeks and my toilet habits become regular and not painful. Kefir is a wonder of nature and I would suggest to anyone to try it. Just test it carefully first to see how you react to it, but is generally well tolerated. Use a multifaceted approach to your IBS that covers your diet, mind and gut flora.

My husband has had IBS for about 10 years. I had him drinking water kefir nightly and milk kefir in the morning. He noticed a difference for the better in the first week. We continued that routine for 4 months then took the water kefir out at night. In 4 days the blood in the stools and painful BMs started for him again. I would say that it does work wonders. I even give small amounts to my children everyday because it sure can't hurt anything!

I have been drinking kefir water for a month now. I have had severe IBS-A for 20 years. I'm 42. Nothing has ever helped me even though I have tried every remedy that I could find over these 20 years (pharmaceutical and natural). At first, the kefir gave me a little gas, but not problematic gas (for the first week). Then it started working more constipation and no more fluctuating between constipation and diarrhea. No more severe abdominal fact no abdominal cramping at all. My acid reflux almost went away.
Over the New Year, while on vacation, away from the kefir water...I got totally constipated and had terrible acid reflux (no cramping though). I have been back for 3 days. The first day I was back with the kefir water, my acid reflux was almost cured. On the other hand, I am still working with the kefir water relieve my constipation. I'm guessing I'll be feeling better in a few days since it took about a week to feel full benefits when I first started drinking it. I started with 3 oz/day and have worked up to 16 oz/day using second-fermented batches only (just my preference for flavor and fizz). When I came back from vacation I started back with 16 oz/day with no problems & no gas.

I've been suffering from severe IBS for at least 7 years now (too many antibiotics and storebought probiotics that hurt more than they helped). I started making and taking kefir water last week along with my boyfriend who is a lifelong IBS sufferer (I suspect because he was born through a C-section, which prevented him from collecting/developing proper internal flora). We both noticed an immediate improvement - as in no gas or bloating, the pain went away completely. We're still going strong and overall just feel so much better. Our skin looks better, we're pain-free, and BMs are actually pleasant again. We feel human again. I wholeheartedly recommend water kefir for people suffering from IBS.

I have been drinking kefir water for about 3 months. I have had IBS all my life. I am 70 years old and have taken drugs for acid reflux for 35 years. Since I have been drinking kefir I have no bloating, very little heartburn or gas and no constipation. I have my life back. Try it you won't be disapointed.

I've been using water kefir for a few months now. It definately helps with Bowel movements, it's good to get all that gunk out of your intestines. I believe that's where most disease start. When I drink a little water kefir daily a half glass or so I feel better and I have no sugar cravings at all. My energy level goes up to. My hair gets softer and my skin looks healthier. If you decide to try it start out with an ounce or two at first-your body has to get used to it. I don't think it should be drank like soda pop, it's probiotics. I have'nt been diagnosed with I.B.S. but had some of the symptoms. No matter what you read on the internet-research it yourself and come to your own conclusions. Never rely on someone else only yourself.

I've been using water Kefir for a little over a week now. I am lactose intolerant and I only take a couple of tablespoons a day of Kefir water. I still have problems with loose bowls, some days I go six or seven times a day and other days not at all. But my energy has really improved, I'm 64 and can't believe the difference it has mad in my energy, also it has taken all my sugar cravings away. I've heard that the more messed up your gut is the longer it takes for Kefir to help straighten you out. So I'm still waiting for that part. But overall I feel so much better. I also think it has helped my arthritis and fibromialgia a little. My daughter is the one that discovered Kefir and she is doing really well, she has been very regular with it and says her energy level and sugar cravings have stopped also. Her husband calls her the energize bunny.

Water kefir is an amazing remedy for a wide range of ailments. With so many people taking antibiotics, washing themselves with soap every day, and living in clean, sterile environments, we are living in an epidemic of bacterial imbalance. Water kefir is a rich source of good probiotic bacteria, cheap, and quick and easy to make. Notice that its' bacteria thrive in a sugar environment – and we live in an abundance of sugar, sweet refined foods, and carbohydrates.
I drink a little water kefir a couple of times each day, rinse my hair with it, put it on my skin where there is any sign of inflammation or other skin problems, wash my eyelids with it, and use it on keratosis, liver spots and any sign of skin aging. The effects have been remarkable after using it for a few months. My digestion is strong, keratosis are disappearing, as are liver and age spots. I feel really good and healthy.
