Ailment: Breastfeeding problems
Remedy: Saw Palmetto
Saw Palmetto (serenoa repens, sabal serrulatum) is a 2-4 m (3-6 ft) fan palm native to the USA, mostly along the Atlantic and Gulf Coastal plains. It is a strong plant, extremely slow growing, and long lived, with some plants, especially in Florida, being as old as 500-700 years. It produces fruits that are crushed and used as a medicinal herb, or to make a tea.

Saw palmetto promotes milk production and may also result in breast enlargement. It is a hormonal stimulant, aiding the production of the female hormone prolactin and other hormones. Occasionally saw palmetto can cause minor gastrointestinal problems, taking it with food usually solves this.
