Thank you so much for posting so many positive comments regarding Apple Cider Vinegar. I recently had my first bout of Gout, and ACV was the cure. I had been taking a diuretic for high blood pressure and in my research I found that my medication may have caused my gout. I decided to stop the medication and give ACV a try. I bought an organic brand with the "mother", and began to take 2 tablespoons with water, tomato juice, etc. The first 12 hours were the same or worse. I also drank lots of water. Within 36 hours I was about 80% better, and the gout was completely cured after 5 days. My Doctor confirmed that my medication could contribute to the gout and was very impressed with ACV as a remedy. I decided to read up a little more about the benefits of ACV for my high blood pressure. Well, it's been two weeks now and with my doctors blessing I've continued without my medication. I'm happy to report that my blood pressure is steady in the 125/85 range and is lower now that when I was on the medication (136/88). I have more energy and am continuing my daily routine of a shot glass with water 3 times per day. I want to shed 40 lbs over the next 6 months. Thanks again - it's the miracle I've been looking for!

There are several studies showing that the acetic acid in vinegar has a significant effect in lowering blood pressure, for example, the Japanese journal Yakuri to chiryo, ISSN 0386-3603, CODEN YACHDS, 2006, vol. 34, no6, pp. 723-735. Lemon juice and kombucha have a similar effect. Unfortunately there is no money to be made from these natural remedies, so they are not widely researched or promoted in the USA, Western Europe or Australia.
