Popcorn with added butter, sugar and salt can be an unhealthy snack. However making your own without all that and using only canola oil and minimal salt I believe is not detrimental. I have found that this is remarkably effective as well as a great intestinal cleaner. It is evident that the water is retained and diverted to intestinal output by the observation of increased healthy bowel movements. At 75, I keep a very vigorous lifestyle with 4-6 hours of racketball and other exercise weekly. Getting woken up became an annoyance to that routine.

I have found that having popcorn every evening has stopped my normal 3-5 trips to the bathroom. Apparently acts as a water uptake in the intestines. Of course no impact on the size of the prostate.

Although stopping 3-5 pees per night is huge, popcorn is not a good food especially every evening after dinner. You may be able to get a similar effect by having dinner as early as possible, and not drinking anything for at least five hours before bed.
