Ailment: Gilbert's syndrome

Remedy: Methionine

Methionine is an essential amino acid - the human body is not able to make it, so you have to get it from your food. It is one of only two amino acids that contain a sulphur group.

Animal products such as eggs, fish, poultry, kefir and yogurt are the richest source of methionine. Plant foods also contain methionine, the best sources being beans, lentils, peanuts, onions, garlic and some grains. However the level in plant sources is low and vegetarians are frequently methionine deficient.

Methionine prevents fat build-up in the liver and arteries by assisting in the breakdown of fats; it helps to detoxify the liver and digestive system; it is a powerful antioxidant; it reduces histamine levels; and it helps women excrete estrogen.

Methionine has been used to treat a variety of chronic liver conditions by taking it as an ongoing supplement.

YES
Methionine supplementation helps those with Gilbert's Syndrome. TMG (tri-methyl-glycine) may be similar and could also be used. Please help here if you have any experience
