I have been assisting my dear friend who has Parkinson’s diagnosis for nearly a decade, trying to help him find some natural remedies to slow down or reverse progression of his symptoms. Recently, he told me that all of his symptoms disappeared after starting 2 teaspoons of baking soda in water every morning. He is still on Levodopa, but his freezes, tremors, low mood and low energy are all gone! I did a research on possible connections of sodium bicarbonate with this dopamine-related disease and found that there are also some dopamine transport molecules that need sodium to get dopamine absorbed in cells. It makes sense that Levodopa alone may not be enough if that dopamine is not absorbed in body cells. I also know that long-term use of sodium bicarbonate may not be safe, so if you are trying this, make sure you make breaks like 3 weeks on 1 week off or 3 months on 1 month off - my golden rule for natural therapies! As table salt is also sodium, it may be useful, but we not tried yet...
