My remedy for depression is liposomal vitamin C and zinc sulphate. It has been found that people suffering depression usually have a low vitamin C blood level. Using the liposomal form allows you to get more into the blood without causing diarrhoea or other problems in the gut. Take 6 grams of vitamin C a day until symptoms reside and then drop dose to 1 gram a day for 2 months. Do not use if pregnant or if you have high ferritin (iron) levels in the blood.

Zinc is one of the first things to test for when suffering from depression. Sufficient zinc is necessary to create a substance called brain-derived neurotrophic factor, which helps alleviate depression. It just so happens that a class of pharmaceutical drugs called SSRIs do the same thing - increase brain-derived neurotrophic factor. It is well worth testing your zinc level before using any pharmaceutical drugs, and having to endure the awful side-effects of those drugs. See the instructions for a simple zinc taste test above. In addition, confirm that you have sufficient magnesium, iron, copper, amino acids and Omega-3 fatty acids.
