Ailment: Corn

Remedy: Banana peel

Banana peel is an effective treatment for several skin complaints, such as corns, warts, acne and psoriasis. The peel is rich in potassium, salicylic acid and lutein (an antioxidant). Susceptibility to warts and several other skin problems is often related to a lack of potassium.

Rub the inner side of the banana peel directly on the skin. Try to use the skin of a green banana, not a ripe one. Cut a piece of banana skin, and tape it over the affected area using elastoplast etc. Depending on what you are using it for, and who you speak to, some people leave it on for as long as a week, others change the peel as often as twice per day. Sometimes it may be more practical just to leave it taped on overnight.

YES
A couple of years ago I had a soft corn on the side of my big toe. It was really painful, and none of the over-the-counter remedies I tried worked. One really burned the skin deep and the corn still came back. A friend told me that a piece of fresh banana skin taped with the inside of the skin on the soft corn and left in place for a week would kill it and the corn would fall off. I tried it and one week later when I pulled off the tape the corn came away with the banana skin. The dead corn left a hole that healed without a scar. There has never been a recurrence.
