Chewing raw purple garlic seems to work best, though the Chinese white garlic works as well. This is the only thing that has helped with two decayed wisdom teeth that I have been stuck with for over half a year. Suck it up with the burn, keep it in there as long as possible... that's the hydrogen sulphide working its magic.

Wow!! Really. I've been plagued with swelling and infection around an incoming wisdom tooth for about two years now. I've taken antibiotics for previous infections and did NOT want to go through anymore. So I started noticing a little swelling and then the pain and then soreness in my neck and jaw over the past two days. I was researching remedies and came upon this site with overwhelming "yeas". I just a bit ago crushed up a clove of garlic with sea salt and kept it on the tooth area for thirty minutes, swallowing bits as the time went on. A little burning, but nothing I couldn't handle and the pain is GONE! Swelling is reduced and I can open my mouth fully. I only used about a quarter of the clove and will repeat tomorrow, but I am very impressed! Thank you!!

Had a tooth abscess that was constalty putting out puss. Finally after a couple weeks of this I was in excruciating pain one day. I woke up at 5am and could not go back to sleep it hurt so much. Ground up a garlic clove with kosher salt (a lot of salt) into a paste and put it on the gums where the abscess was for about 2-5 minutes. It burned like hell but after that the pain went away almost immediately. The abscess retreated and is no longer there. It has been 3 days and no more pain!

Put this to the test for a painful broken tooth with exposed nerve. Alternated between chewing a split clove and holding it in the affected area between the cheek and tooth. After being unable to even focus on anything to distract my mind, let alone sleep, I can actually say it is the only thing that has worked. Tried the warm compress, pharmaceutical pain relief, salt water rinse and nothing. Garlic will now be ever-present in my home!

Garlic cured an infected wisdom tooth I had for years. Oil pulling with tumeric and garlic infused sunflower oil also helped heal my damaged teeth.

I had an oral surgery two weeks ago with my wisdom tooth removed and my soft tissue sutured. Since then the pain has been uprising and the ibuprofen I took was not helping a whole lot. I then decided to check out online remedies and fell on this God sent site where people recommended garlic. Took it last night and as if it was magic the pain disappeared significantly. It burns at first but slowly gets better and the pain subsides. Do not miss to try this because it might work as well for you.

Woke up this morning with toothache. I had been braving trough it throughout the day, but I gave up and consulted home remedies. I found this Garlic solution and as I write I have a cotton ball dipped in pounded garlic with salt and water in over the aching tooth. At first it made my eyes water it was so intense, but I am on my 15 minute mark and I do feel some relief. I will finish this comment as I get to the 30 minute mark. It is fair to mention that I also rinsed with hydrogen peroxide and it was instant relief prior to sticking the cotton in. Ok, at the 30 minute mark. I took off the cotton ball and IT WORKED!!! Who would have thought it??? It Worked!!!

I am a cynic. I had a blistering toothache due to a partial root canal - I waited too long to get the second part done and it became infected. The dentist had cleaned it out again and put antibiotics directly in it. I took antibiotics for 2 days and 800mg ibuprofen (1 every 4 hours) - that helped less and less and stopped working the second day. I read this page and was willing to try anything. The only garlic I have is a large tin of Garlic Powder for cooking. It is almost empty, but probably has a few tablespoons left in it and I wasn't too good at closing the top. I mixed 2 tablespoons with Warm water. I used it like mouthwash. Swirl it in the mouth for a few seconds, spit it out. Repeat over and over (No burning at all). At first it still hurt – and I stopped after about 5 rinses. But 5 minutes later, the pain started to go away. So I did more of the garlic wash about 4/5ths of the cup. Waited another 10 minutes and the pain was almost completely gone. Finished off the wash and by the time I was done, the pain was gone. And it still is. So if you are broke or just have garlic powder in the house for cooking – make the wash, it works great, and without the burn!
