YES
Having worked as an Alternative Health Practitioner in West Africa for the past few years, I have used these leaves extensively with those who are malnourished, always with a very positive and happy outcome.
FRESH LEAVES: As the trees grow abundantly in every compound (garden), I would recommend that ADULTS pick and eat 6-10 of the young leaves, direct from the trees, in the mornings between 7-9 when their digestive system is functioning at its optimum. The locals soon found this bacame a habit they enjoyed so just continued eating the leaves and improving their health. CHILDREN would take half that amount. After a period of time they could do this before each meal time. DRIED POWDER: As the leaves are obviously seasonal, I would recommend they collected them before the season ended, dried them naturally in the shade, pounded them to a powder and stored it in an airtight container in the dark for when the leaves were no longer available. Their continued dosage of 1 level teaspoon would be mixed in with a morning drink or breakfast. For those who were severely malnourished - mainly young chidren - who were heartbreakingly thin, lethargic, too weak to show any emotions, we would start with maybe an 1/8th of a teaspoon of powder mixed in with either a drink (with added honey) of their creamed rice breakfast, lunch and dinner, slowly increasing every few days until 1 level spoonful was reached. Within a very few weeks they would have started to gain weight, have more energy and looked more healthy and, most importantly of all, happy and smiling! Having recently returned to Europe I've noticed that you can now purchase this in many shops as a powder. Cannot recommend this highly enough.
