I am 65 years old and normally fit as a fiddle. A month ago I contracted strep throat on my tonsils (white patches and swollen) and spent two days taking paracetamol for the pain, hoping that the strep would clear up on its own. When it became difficult to swallow, I found the home remedy of using cayenne pepper on this website. I used quarter of a teaspoon in a glass of warm water as a gargle. It was super-hot but did not last for long. Within minutes the pain of the infection subsided. The next morning the white patches, swelling and pain were reduced by half. I did gargles again in the morning and the evening, and by the second morning the white patches and swelling had almost completely disappeared. By day three my throat was completely back to normal! I am absolutely amazed that such a simple cure worked so well! Thank you so much.

I diagnosed myself with a bacterial throat infection a week ago. My throat was so sore that it felt like I was swallowing razor blades when I swallowed. I had a temperature, aching body, and slightly swollen neck. But there was no coughing – it would have been murder if I had had to cough with my throat like that! I gargled with a glass of warm water and 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper and 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice. It was very unpleasant but I pushed through. After about 10 minutes the pain was gone! I did another gargle before bed, and two more the following day. Thank you for such an effective remedy.
