Melissa officinalis, aka lemon balm, is a terrific herb for HSV. I take an infusion (strong tea) once daily as an anti-viral. The simplest way to do this is to buy a high-quality lemon balm tea and steep 2 tea bags in 10 oz of hot water (covered) for 10-15 minutes. Squeeze the bags before drinking to get the most out of the herb.
Melissa essential oil is also wonderful topically on sores, especially when combined with tea tree oil. I don't get sores any more but when I did, I would immediately apply 500 PPM colloidal silver, let that dry, and then apply a mixture of the colloidal silver, melissa essential oil, and tea tree oil several times a day. This would dry up the sites before they even had the chance to fully manifest. I never once had sores that got to the point of bursting or scabbing.
